AAPI Victory Fund Celebrates Sen. Warnock’s Reelection in Georgia Senate Runoff

WASHINGTON — Tonight, Sen. Warnock successfully won his reelection bid against GOP extremist Herschel Walker in the Georgia Senate runoff election. The reelection of Sen. Warnock was hard-won, and could not be achieved without the support of Georgia’s Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community at the ballot box.

AAPI Victory Fund President and CEO Brad Jenkins issued the following statement:

“Yet again, we saw a multi-racial coalition come together in Georgia to reelect Sen.Warnock, proving that when we work in numbers, we are a formidable election force with the power to decide the outcomes of close races.

In the final days of the Georgia Senate runoff, the focus was on getting the diverse, vibrant Asian American community out to vote. The AAPI Victory Fund hosted a rally with the senator drawing six members of Congress including Pramila Jaypal,  Grace Meng, and Judy Chu; canvassed with Sen. Warnock in Sikh gurdwaras, Hindu temples, Muslim mosques and Korean churches; and with the help of Aspire PAC, shaped the media narrative, reaching our communities directly through a first-of-its-kind local ethnic media presser—all part of a weekend of unprecedented efforts to reach and mobilize AAPIs across the Peach State.

Following unprecedented voter mobilization efforts by the Warnock campaign to reach our community and move them to the ballot box, AAPIs turned out and proved, yet again, that we have the power to decide close elections. Congratulations to all of the volunteers and grassroots groups who worked relentlessly around the clock to get Sen. Warnock reelected– we are so grateful for their determination. Sen. Warnock has integrity, character, and grit. He’s shown up for the AAPI community before, and we have full confidence he will again.”

Background: Asian Americans are the fastest-growing demographic in Georgia, and across the country. Asian American voter turnout nearly doubled in Georgia between 2016 and 2020, with the AANHPI electorate exceeding the margin with which President Joe Biden won the state. AANHPIs comprise 4.7% of Georgia’s population.
