AAPI Victory Fund Welcomes Nick Rathod as Vice President
WASHINGTON – Today, AAPI Victory Fund welcomes Nick Rathod as Vice President of strategy operations and donor engagement. Rathod will continue expanding the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) vote, mobilizing AAPIs across the nation, and supporting candidates in crucial races.“Nick understands the issues importance to AAPI community and has a proven record of being an effective, progressive community organizer,” said Shekar Narasimhan, Chair of AAPI Victory Fund. “We are excited to grow with his leadership and expertise and look forward to increasing our ability to support candidates and voters across the country.”Rathod was the Founder and Executive Director of the State Innovation Exchange (SiX), an organization that works to build progressive power in state legislatures and promote and advance state-based policies that support middle and working-class communities. In just three years, Rathod took the organization from a small start-up to a multimillion-dollar operation with more than thirty staff across the country.Prior to SiX, Rathod served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director for Intergovernmental Affairs in the Obama White House. He also served as the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the Obama-Biden Transition Team. In these roles, Rathod served as President Obama’s liaison to states and U.S. territories.“I am thrilled to join the amazing team at the Victory Fund,” said Rathod. “It’s long past time for our community to engage in the electoral process and flex our collective political muscle to better achieve outcomes on behalf of all AAPI’s across the country. The Victory Fund is the best vehicle for us to do this and I am excited to be a part of this important effort.”Rathod also served as a Senior Advisor to former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, Senior Manager of State and Regional Affairs at the Center for American Progress and Director of State Campaigns for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety. Early in his career, Rathod worked to support the AAPI community serving as a community-based lawyer at the Asian American Legal Resource Center in Washington, DC and a founding member and former Chairman of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering the South Asian community.
