AAPI Victory Alliance and AAPI Victory Fund on 100 Days Until Midterms

WASHINGTON – Heading into the final 100 days until the midterm elections, AAPI Victory Alliance and AAPI Victory Fund issued the following statements reflecting on what Democrats need to do to garner the vote of the nation’s fastest-growing demographic.

AAPI Victory Alliance Executive Director Varun Nikore issued the following statement:

“As we cross the threshold of 100 days until the midterm elections, it is more important than ever for Democrats to invest in the AAPI community. Following record-high turnout in the 2020 election, it is clear that the AAPI electorate has the power to shape critical elections and be the margin of victory in key states.

“Building power and advocating for representation at the local and state levels is imperative to transforming our democracy and passing policies that affect our communities' everyday lives.”

AAPI Victory Fund President and CEO Brad Jenkins issued the following statement:

“During a time when the very future of democracy is at stake, it is time for Democrats to dedicate their time to and focus their outreach efforts on mobilizing the AAPI electorate. With 435 House of Representative seats and 34 Senate seats up for grabs, this moment is too important for Democrats to not work to empower and mobilize the 23 million-strong AAPI electorate. If there’s any hope of passing progressive policies centered around addressing voting rights, reproductive freedom, climate change, and gun violence prevention, Democrats need to use these next few months to earn the votes of our nation’s most powerful electorates.

“As Democrats continue to lose ground with communities of color, this moment is more important than ever; not only for midterm elections but for the future of democracy as we know it.”
