AAPI Victory Fund Endorses Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul of Wisconsin For Re-Election

WASHINGTON — Today, AAPI Victory Fund announced its endorsement of Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul of Wisconsin for re-election. While in office, Governor Evers has been committed to bringing people together, passing legislation that puts Wisconsinites first. Rather than focus on hot-button political issues, Governor Evers has worked to address the cost of living issues, getting people back to work, and giving children the education they need to thrive. Attorney General Josh Kaul has emphasized safety and security throughout his tenure; he has increased funding for public safety, fought for gun violence prevention, and centered a healthy environment in his work, thus putting the livelihoods of Wisconsinites at the heart of his policies.

As the fastest growing racial or ethnic group in the U.S., AANHPIs make up 2.3% of Wisconsin’s electorate, a figure that shows a 64% increase from 2010 to 2020. It is clear that the surging AANHPI electorate is becoming a crucial election-determining community in the state.

AAPI Victory Fund President and CEO Brad Jenkins issued the following statement:

“We at AAPI Victory Fund are delighted to endorse Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul of Wisconsin in their re-election bids. Evers and Kaul are two candidates who exemplify what it means to be champions in their respective fields; continuously putting the people of Wisconsin at the forefront of everything they do.

“As a lifelong Wisconsinite, Governor Evers’ deep commitment to service and his exemplary track record of delivering results to enrich the lives of Wisconsin’s families and residents are why we are endorsing him for re-election.

“Attorney General Josh Kaul’s accomplishments as a federal prosecutor and efforts to strengthen Wisconsin’s public safety show he is dedicated to ensuring the safety of his community.

“We are proud to endorse these two candidates who are committed to advocating for a progressive future for Wisconsinites and can’t wait to see what Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul continue to achieve for the future of Wisconsin.”

AAPI Victory Fund National Political Director Shehn Datta issued the following statement:

“AANHPIs in Wisconsin are already in good hands with Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul. Governor Evers has championed key initiatives that improve the lives of Wisconsin families such as $4 billion in tax relief, investing in the quality of Wisconsin’s public education, and supporting Wisconsin’s workers and small businesses. Governor Evers knows that families come first in Wisconsin, this is why we at the AAPI Victory Fund are excited to endorse Governor Tony Evers for re-election.

“Attorney General Josh Kaul knows that Wisconsin needs public safety infrastructure and his track record has proven that he will advocate for safety for all Wisconsinites. As the first Asian American and South Asian American Attorney General of Wisconsin, we are proud to support his leadership and are excited to see continued change come from his office following his re-election.”

Governor of Wisconsin Tony Evers issued the following statement:

“I am incredibly honored to have the endorsement of the AAPI Victory Fund, and am committed to supporting Wisconsin’s Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. That’s why I have taken steps to honor AAPI veterans, fought back against the previous presidential administration’s hateful immigration policies, urged Wisconsin’s federal delegation to pass the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, and supported underserved entrepreneurs with investments of over $100 million in grants. I will continue doing the right thing for Wisconsin and support our AAPI communities.”

Attorney General of Wisconsin Josh Kaul issued the following statement:

“I am so proud to receive the endorsement of the AAPI Victory Fund. As Attorney General, my administration has investigated and prosecuted some of the most serious offenses in Wisconsin. I worked to reform our sexual assault kit laws, and I’ve advocated for common-sense gun safety laws and more funding for public safety. My administration has held polluters accountable, helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars to fight the opioid epidemic, and stood up for reproductive freedom and the freedom to vote. We must continue to have an AG who stands up for all Wisconsinites.”
