AAPI Victory Fund Congratulates Dr. Vivek Murthy on His Confirmation as U.S. Surgeon General

WASHINGTON - Yesterday, in a 57-43 vote, the U.S. Senate confirmed Dr. Vivek Murthy as U.S. Surgeon General. Dr. Murthy has previously served as Surgeon General under President Obama and was a top health adviser to the Biden-Harris campaign and a co-chair of the COVID-19 advisory board during the transition. 

“We congratulate Dr. Murthy on his successful Senate confirmation as he returns to his role as U.S. Surgeon General,” said Shekar Narasimhan, chair and founder of AAPI Victory Fund. “Dr. Murthy is immensely qualified for this position, and his voice is vital to the conversation surrounding our nation’s health and COVID-19, especially at this perilous time for AAPIs. We applaud the Senate and the Biden-Harris administration in confirming and nominating him, and we hope there will be more AAPIs in the appointments pipeline.”
