AAPI Victory Fund Endorses Dr. Asif Mahmood for California’s 40th Congressional District

WASHINGTON — Today, AAPI Victory Fund announced their latest endorsement for the upcoming midterm elections: Dr. Asif Mahmood for California’s 40th congressional district. Dr. Mahmood is a doctor of internal medicine who believes that helping others is our highest calling.

The race for California’s 40th Congressional district will be between Dr. Asif Mahmood and another AAPI candidate, Young Kim, most notably known for her stringent conservative views. Dr. Mahmood is dedicated to bipartisanship to pass legislation that works for the people instead of against them.

AAPI Victory Fund President and CEO Brad Jenkins issued the following statement:

“Throughout the electoral process, there were many candidates that truly value the health and livelihoods of their community. Dr. Mahmood is a meritorious candidate who exemplifies and uplifts those values and puts his community first, leading with integrity. As a doctor and community leader, he understands that many people lack quality healthcare and thus, has long advocated for strengthening the Affordable Care Act. With Dr. Mahmood at the helm of California’s 40th congressional district, we believe that he will put his constituents’ health and livelihoods at the heart of his policies.

“We at AAPI Victory Fund are proud to join the several progressive organizations and elected officials who are choosing to endorse Dr. Asif Mahmood.”

AAPI Victory Fund Board Member Katie Kalvoda issued the following statement:

“As a California resident, I applaud Dr. Mahmood’s principled values in helping those in need. Putting people and their livelihoods first by advocating for quality affordable healthcare, reproductive access, and strengthening our gun safety laws progresses our path forward towards justice and equity.”

California’s 40th congressional district candidate Dr. Asif Mahmood issued the following statement:

"The broad support of the CA-40 AAPI community has meant so much to our campaign and to me personally. All of our families want communities safe from gun violence, and we want leaders in Washington who fight for our needs - not their political party or political philosophy. I look forward to partnering with the AAPI Victory Fund to help engage families in this district."
