AAPI Victory Fund & North Carolina Senate Democratic Whip Jay Chaudhuri Endorse Cheri Beasley for Senate
WASHINGTON — Today, AAPI Victory Fund, the first Super PAC of its kind empowering 23 million-strong Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to be the margin of electoral victory, and North Carolina Senate Democratic Whip Jay Chaudhuri announced their endorsement for Cheri Beasley for U.S. Senate in North Carolina.
The endorsement joins that of The Collective PAC and builds on the historic memorandum of understanding to increase diverse representation and power within the political and policy sphere. As midterms approach, the groups are united to combat divisive rhetoric and showcase the importance of intersectionality in politics, a move AAPI Victory Fund is spearheading not only with their endorsements but also with their new Acting President Brad Jenkins. BIPOC communities remain underrepresented in elected office. The AAPI Victory Fund and its partner PACs will jointly increase representation for all.
AAPI Victory Fund Acting President Brad Jenkins issued the following statement:
“Today, I am honored to lead AAPI Victory Fund in announcing our endorsement for Cheri Beasley for U.S. Senate in North Carolina. After announcing a memorandum of understanding to ensure campaign support for candidates of color last December, it is with great pride that AAPI Victory Fund joins The Collective PAC in this endorsement. As extremist politicians across the country sow division and seek to alienate marginalized communities, fortifying allyship to make certain that underrepresented candidates, organizations and elected officials receive the resources they need ahead of midterms is critical.
“As a biracial American—a living testament of intersectionality—I’m proud to join forces with exemplary organizations who recognize that by supporting Beasley, they’re also investing in a stronger, more diverse future for both North Carolina and the United States. Armed with outstanding qualifications, Beasley is poised to make history as North Carolina’s first Black U.S. Senator. We hope to see her across the finish line.”
North Carolina Senate Democratic Whip Jay Chaudhuri issued the following statement:
“I'm honored to endorse Justice Beasley for the United States Senate, someone my family and I have known for more than 20 years. We need Cheri Beasley because I believe we've moved beyond parties in the fight for our country and to save democracy. I can think of no one better who will stand up for the Rule of Law, for our courts and for our institutions.
“Cheri made history in 2019 as the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice, and is positioned to make history once more as North Carolina’s first African American Senator.
“Throughout her career, Cheri has continuously embodied what it means to be a devoted public servant. From her tenure as a public defender in Fayetteville to Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, Cheri's reputation for serving the public and upholding justice precedes her. For North Carolinians, and for underrepresented constituents across the country, she has demonstrated that there are no limits to achievement; there isn’t a candidate more qualified or more deserving for this position than Cheri and I’m proud to support her on her journey to the U.S. Senate.”
Justice Cheri Beasley., candidate for U.S. Senate (NC) issued the following statement:
“I am so honored to earn the support of AAPI Victory Fund, which does critical work in mobilizing voters in North Carolina and across the nation. Their help will be instrumental in building an inclusive, engaged and truly statewide campaign that can win in November and bring real change to our state.”
