Sima Ladjevardian Joins AAPI Victory Fund Board of Directors
AAPI VICTORY FUND BOARD IS MAJORITY WOMEN FOR FIRST TIME
WASHINGTON D.C. — Sima Ladjevardian, a Texas-based lawyer, mother of two, breast cancer survivor, small business owner, and community and political activist, today joined the board of directors of the AAPI Victory Fund, the only national super PAC devoted to mobilizing Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) voters and supporting AANHPI candidates for elected office.
“The political power of our AANHPIs have been overlooked for far too long, which is why AAPI Victory Fund fills such a critical void to make sure our communities know what’s at stake in the election,” said Sima Ladjevardian. “I’m thrilled to be part of this team doing this important work at such an important time for our country.”
After leaving political upheaval and revolution, Ladjevardian’s family arrived in the United States. Through her journey as an immigrant, she saw first-hand the power and promise this country can provide. She has since worked extensively to ensure that hardworking families have all the opportunities to strive and be healthy. In 2020, Ladjevardian was one of the first Iranian-American major party nominees for Congress.
Ladjevardian currently serves as Chair of the National Women’s Business Council, which is a nonpartisan federal advisory committee to the President, the U.S. Congress and the Administrator of the SBA. She was previously Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, serving as Secretary Xavier Becerra’s representative responsible for guiding and coordinating HHS policy initiatives covering Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, as well as 68 federally recognized tribal nations.
“Sima is a savvy political strategist and we’re incredibly fortunate to have her tactical mind on our team as we look towards the work ahead of us this fall to re-elect President Biden and help AANHPI Democrats win offices around the country,” said Shekar Narasimhan, chairman and founder of the AAPI Victory Fund. “Sima joining our board also means for the first time ever, our board is majority woman. This milestone reflects the growing political power of AANHPI women – from Vice President Harris to local leaders in all corners of the country.”
Most recently, AAPI Victory Fund was behind a major independent expenditure program targeting AANHPI voters in New York’s 3rd Congressional District special election. The program targeted roughly 40,000 South Asian registered voters with focused messages deployed in four languages (English, Hindi, Urdu, and Arabic) and five modes of communication (multilingual direct mail, texting, live calls, robocalls, and in-language ads in prominent local cultural news outlets).
AAPI Victory Fund is planning further paid media campaigns in battleground states this fall to continue increasing AAPI representation in elected offices and win elections for candidates that share our values.
